The Immigration Disease Connection: Where Does Whooping Cough Come From?

About a week ago I posted a piece taking a look at the nationwide outbreak of Whooping Cough, and the Indiana connection. While writing the piece a question was raised in my mind to which I didn't know the answer . Follow my logic here, according to Wikipedia when the civilized (read: White) world developed good vaccines Whooping Cough rates plummeted to essentially zero...

Before vaccines, an average of 157 cases per 100,000 persons were reported in the U.S., with peaks reported every two to five years; more than 93% of reported cases occurred in children under 10 years of age. The actual incidence was likely much higher. After vaccinations were introduced in the 1940s, incidence fell dramatically to less than 1 per 100,000 by 1970. Incidence rates have increased somewhat since 1980.

So to recap: after the introduction of good vaccines the incidence rate of Whooping Cough fell to damn near zero in all civilized (read: White) countries. In the same section of the Wiki entry they offer us a little mystery...

Pertussis is the only vaccine-preventable disease that is associated with increasing deaths in the U.S. The number of deaths increased from 4 in 1996 to 17 in 2001, almost all of which were infants under one year.[15] In Canada, the number of pertussis infections has varied between 2,000 to 10,000 reported cases each year over the last 10 years.[16] Australia reports an average of 10,000 cases a year, but the number of cases has increased in recent years.[17] In 2010 five infants in California died and health authorities declared an epidemic.[18]

What could possibly explain this?

Now, I did a little internet sleuthing and in California...

The pertussis (whooping cough) outbreak in California has been all over the news for the past several weeks. There have been 1,500 confirmed pertussis cases in California this year thus far (as of mid July) and seven deaths, gearing this season up to be the worst in 50 years as per state officials. Now, the Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy, is reporting that pertussis cases are on the rise in other states as well.

And perhaps the most telling and chilling detail...

Since 1998, more than 80 percent of the infants in California who have died from pertussis have been Hispanic.

And its not just California, but nationwide...

Currently, Idaho, Texas, South Carolina, Arizona, Wisconsin, Oregon, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa and upstate New York are reporting a rise in petussis cases and will likely exceed the number of cases reported last year.

But let's refocus our attention on Indiana I found this document from the Indiana Department of Health that broke out Pertussis castes by race, but again there was a little mystery...

Screenshot

You'll note that the categories are White; Black and Other, but no Hispanic category?

So I sent an email to the Indiana State Department of Health asking if they had any data on Hispanic victims, here is what they sent me...

We have been able to generate the ethnicity of the confirmed pertussis cases for 2009 and so far in 2010. In 2009, we had 24 cases in Hispanics and 268 in non Hispanics (and 100 with unknown ethnicity). Of the cases with known ethnicity (292 cases), 8.2% were Hispanic. In 2010 we have had 19 cases in Hispanics so far this year, and 241 in non Hispanics (and 44 with unknown ethnicity).

Of the cases with known ethnicity (260 cases), 7.3% were Hispanic. According to the census, 5.5% of Indiana’s population is Hispanic. In 2009, the rate of pertussis in Indiana in Hispanics was 6.8 per 100,000 Hispanics, while the rate for non Hispanics was 4.4 per 100,000 non Hispanics. So far in 2010, the rate in Indiana for Hispanics is 5.4 per 100,000 Hispanics, and 4.0 per 100,000 non Hispanics.

All of this means that more Hispanics are being diagnosed with pertussis than non Hispanics.

Let me note for the record how nice and helpful everyone I dealt with at ISDH was but, the numbers still seemed screwy to me, something wasn't adding up, so I found a epidemiologist in Indiana and I asked him my core question: if Whooping Cough was a defeated disease how are Americans who've never left the country getting this disease?

His response was that the problem was that people were no longer getting immunized, which is true to some extent, but what extent is the real question? This document shows that we are far from the ideal of 95%.

So here's what I think, while I'm sure the epidemiologist is correct that too many Americans aren't getting immunized, it is obvious to me that a bigger problem is people crossing our border both legally and illegally with the disease. Who are not only carrying the disease but are also lowering the herd immunity and making it more and more dangerous to live in this country.

The Federation for Immigration Reform estimates there to be a foreign born population of 283,120 and an illegal alien population of 100,000 for a total of almost 400,000 foreign born individuals in Indiana.

Our ancestors had the common sense to control our borders and reject immigrants who were carrying diseases. While our current government lives in terror of keeping even a single Democrat voter out of this country, even if they might be carrying Ebola.

Final thought, Whooping cough is not magic, for people to catch people have to have it, and at this point in time I believe this disease is almost wholly a product of people crossing our borders, like so many other downsides of mass out of control immigration average Americans are dying because our government refuses to protect them by protecting our borders.

Remind Me: Who Are The Racists Again?

I can't place a strong enough NSFW warning on this video from an event organized by an NAACP official...

It grows harder and harder to take these people seriously on the subject of racism. I think it bears repeating that in the modern world all accusations of racism are simply cynical attempts to shut people up and cover up facts inconvenient to the multi-culturalists. That's it for us this week, have a great weekend and we'll be back Monday, same bat time, same bat channel!

What Does Irony Look Like: Indiana Law Enforcement Breaking The Law!

Seriously, the mind boggles...

Indiana Civil Forfeiture Law - Where is the Money Going?

It appears that millions of dollars of civil forfeiture funds are being kept by law enforcement agencies, prosecutor's offices, and private attorneys hired by prosecutors, rather than turned over to the State for education as required by Indiana law.

According to records obtained from the Treasurer's Office, Indiana's 92 counties only paid $95,509.72 in civil forfeiture funds into the common school fund for the past two years, an amount that is only slightly more than $1,000 per county.

Indiana's civil forfeiture law works like this: When property or money is seized in connection with certain crimes, often drug related, the prosecutor, or a private attorney hired by the prosecutor, can file a civil action against the property or money acquired. Once it is shown that the property or money was involved in a crime, the court is to make a determination of the law enforcement cost of the action, a figure which can include attorney's fees. Once those costs are paid, the remainder of the forfeiture proceeds are to be paid into the common school fund maintained by the Treasurer of the State of Indiana.

The problem is...it appears that only one county in the State of Indiana - Wayne County - is complying with the law. *snip*

It is not entirely clear where all the money is going or where the breakdown in the system is that has left only a trickle of money going into the common school fund. Possibly it could be that prosecutors or their hired private counsel aren't closely analyzing law enforcement costs and are simply assuming that on every forfeiture case law enforcement costs and attorney's fees consume the entire amount of the proceeds seized.

Reason magazine notes...

Ogden's being charitable. It's apparent that prosecutors and judges in Indiana know they're gaming the system. For example, in a follow-up to my Reason piece, Gambill told me that he was suspicious of the motives of Putnam County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Headley in Anthony Smelley's case because Headley had once asked for $5,000 from the county forfeiture fund to purchase new audio-visual equipment for his courtroom (he was turned down). Headley conceded to me that he had asked for the money, but denied that getting turned down affected the way he presided over forfeiture cases. But whether or not Headley is biased glosses over the larger point: In a state where all proceeds from forfeiture cases are supposed to go to a school fund, why would Judge Headley (himself a former prosecutor) have assumed there would be $5,000 in forfeiture proceeds available to upgrade his courtroom in the first place?

The most obvious answer is that judges and prosecutors, at least in some parts of Indiana, know that there's wholesale disregard for the school fund requirement.

Civil asset forfeiture is an unjust, unfair practice under any circumstance. The idea that the government can take someone's property on the legal fiction that property itself can be guilty of a crime is an invitation to corruption, and provides a way for the government to get its hands on private goods under a lower burden of proof than it needs to actually convict someone (criminal forfeiture, different from civil forfeiture, requires an actual conviction). What's happening in Indiana, where the entire legal system is essentially ignoring the spirit if not the outright letter of state law, only confirms that once you give government license to steal, it's very difficult to wrest it back

.We noted some possible corruption in the Marion County Sheriff's Office and we have to ask: just how deep does the rot go?

And this is why we need you to support Hoosier Nation as our government has become a criminal enterprise and someone needs to point this out, and we intend to be that organization.

Conservatives Throw Dr. Laura Overboard!

So-called "Conservatives" refuse to defend Dr' Laura from using the N-word to make a point, can't figure out why they are losing the culture war...

After scoring a major victory in their battle for talk radio censorship, "progressive" groups are now poised to take down as many hosts as possible. The cows are officially out of the barn. Moo!

In the wake of Dr Laura Schlessinger's sudden departure from broadcasting, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Michael Savage, Laura Ingraham and dozens of other talkers could be next to face the axe.

Sadly, the far-left parasites at Media Matters have won this battle by default as conservatives strangely chose to sit out the fight. Now, with champagne corks popping, they can celebrate as major contributions from billionaires fill their coffers.

The gloating is obvious to anyone visiting the smear organization's website, where it is made clear Laura blames them for her departure. And taking the cake in that department are the fringe extremists at StopDrLaura.com, where the headline reads "we stopped Dr Laura". *snip*

What was the right thinking in avoiding this battle?

Even more peculiar is how Dr Laura was actually defended at least in part by several leftists at Huffington Post and elsewhere. Clearly, however, Schlessinger got the message she'd get no backing from conservatives and threw in the towel after 30 years of leading the fight against cultural decay in America.

And that's why Hoosier Nation is different! We won't run away when the transnational Left, Progressives, Communists and most disgustingly, Republicans play their trump card, the racist card. We know that in the modern world any and all attempts to play the racist card are simply cynical attempts to smear, shut down the conversation or get an effective Conservative fired.

And that's why you should support Hoosier Nation, we're different and we're ready to take the fight to our enemy. Join now and be a part of the upcoming battles, it should be a hoot!

Is Andre Carson A Member Of The Socialist Caucus?

A story burning up the Republican (Neo-con?) side of the blogosphere last week was the revelation that Andre Carson (D-IN 07) and seventy other Democrats were a part of the Democratic Socialists Of America Caucus.

As Gateway Pundit wrote...

The Socialist Party of America announced in their October 2009 newsletter that 70 Congressional democrats currently belong to their caucus.

You may note we didn't run with this story and the primary reason was that it just smelled bad to me. So I did what every ethical blogger should do, and all too many don't, I picked up the phone and called Rep. Carson's press secretary and asked him if there was any truth to this story.

Short version: no

Longer: the list that was released was actually the list of the Progressive caucus, so this is looking like some sort of hoax.

This is a part of the Hoosier Nation difference, we aren't here to praise Republicans or bash Democrats, we are both non-partisan and bi-partisan and we will take the time to tell the truth to the best of our ability. You can count on it.

If this sounds good to you make sure to join in the reindeer fun!

I will continue to keep a weather eye out on this one but at this point we have to call BS.

Atlanta: Are We In America?

In Blacklanta (55% Black) 8,000 poor victims of White racism showed up to get section 8 housing vouchers and stick it to the man, how did it go?

NBC reporter Ron Mott told Schultz. "Dozens upon dozens of people passing out from the heat, standing in the heat just to apply for public housing. ... I've got to tell you, the first thought that I had when we pulled up on the scene here was whether we were in America."

While in flood ravaged Ames, Iowa (87% White) people waited quietly and peacefully for life-giving water.

What could possibly explain the difference?

Anyone, Beuhler?

Cracking The Code?

Mysterious raceless "Men" threaten school children with a gun, who could it be? There will be a test...

Gun pulled on Indy students at bus stop

A gun-toting motorist and an accomplice menaced four male high school students waiting for the bus this morning, police said.

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report said the three 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old were standing at the corner of east 10th and North Gray streets at 6:55 a.m. when two men drove by them in a black, 4-door Honda.

The boys said the men drove by them about three or four times and each time they pointed at them with their fingers, mimicking the motion of shooting a gun.

Finally, they stopped the car, the passenger got out and said, “Do you want to fight?”

After the boys said no, the driver grabbed a gun from the car's counsel, cocked it and pointed it at them.

“I’ll kill all of you,” he told the boys, according to a police report.

The boys ran away and the car drove away.

It's not until the last sentence when the Indy is good enough to provide a subtle hint as to the race and/or ethnicity of the perpetrators....

The car had a Mexican flag on the front license plate holder, gold rims on the front tires and silver rims on the back tries.

A Mexican flag, eh? why I feel like that might possibly have some meaning to our ridiculous open borders policy of importing Democrats, Leftists and other assorted cranks, losers and fools.

If only we had some source of information that could tell us what this all means, something like, oh, I don't know, a newspaper?

Nah, too crazy, right?

Also Racist: Standardized Testing?

Here's another entry from the "anything but race" explanations for Black dysfunction and violence...

St. Sen. Frederica Wilson Wants FCAT Law Repealed

“Sen. Wilson says she wants the FCAT [Florida’s Comprehensive Assessment Test] law to be repealed because it’s pushing Florida’s children to a life of crime and destitution.

Surrounded by dozens of leaders from the African-American community and the Miami-Dade County school system, Wilson condemned the test. She echoed the cries of superintendents across the state and called the FCAT system flawed and also said the company that administers the test is responsible for a host of problems….

Sen. Wilson says she believes the FCAT is particularly affecting African-American children. She says all too many of them go to school, get a passing grade, yet cannot pass the FCAT and are kept out of the 9th grade. It’s a situation that she says fosters a downward spiral for too many children.

“So they take drugs to numb their pain. And after they take drugs, they’re in the fuzz, they don’t even know where they are. They join a gang, they pick up an AK-47, they sell drugs, they turn to crime, they’re jobless, they’re fearless, and they’re godless,” said Sen. Wilson.

Wilson argues that millions of dollars that the state spends on FCAT testing could be better spent on other things such as vocational training [NS: her one good idea!], drop out retention programs, books, supplies and more.

The FCAT is used to monitor students’ progress and schools’ compliance with the federal No Child Left Behind act . Third graders must pass the reading test to be advanced to fourth grade, while high school students must pass the 10th grade reading and math tests to receive a standard diploma.

As this story so clearly shows, one of the prime consequences of "diversity" is a relentless lowering of standards until there are no standards left to lower. So long as you have two groups with differing cognitive abilities there can never be peace between those two groups.

Celebrate that in your classrooms multi-culturalists!

Indy Affirmative Action Shocker!

During his confirmation hearings Indianapolis Public Safety Director Frank Straub swore he would hire incompetent Black officials using a racial spoils system.

Today he made good on that promise.

Who is Rick Hite? If you guessed a racial arsonist from Baltimore who's made a career out of bogus cries of "racism?"

You win!

As we often say...

we recognize that all calls of "racism" in the modern world are simply cynical attempts to shut down the conversation especially when it concerns Whites noticing their own displacement.

America Is Not Mexico!

Let me repeat that for those just tuning into the program: America is not Mexico!

On the always excellent Vdare blog immigration & Democrat (don't see that combo much these days, do we?) Donald A. Collins is concerned that America will become like Mexico as Mexico's drug violence spills over our border, he says...

Intimidation Coming To Our Border Areas

Why can’t our legislators legalize all drugs and put their operation under the control of private companies that can be taxed, supervised and regulated?

This urgent and sensible action would particularly our citizens living close to the Mexican border, in states that could easily end up like Mexico itself-lawless, anarchic, where the criminals have the guns and the government is powerless to stop violence.

Sure, you can send in troops, police, etc. but usually after the fact. And when they leave, the drug cartels are again in charge, always able to intimidate.

Any functioning democracy depends on its mass media’s ability to gather and report the facts. What if that vital sector is so intimidated that it can’t do its job?

Like the August 2nd Page One Washington Post story’s headline: In Mexico’s Nuevo Laredo, drug cartels dictate media coverage.

“Two weeks ago, Mexican soldiers clashed here with drug cartel gangsters in running gun battles that lasted five hours. The outlaws hijacked vehicles, including a bus, for use as barricades and battering rams. Terrified residents scrambled for safety. At least a dozen people were killed, including bystanders. Children were wounded in the crossfire. Not a single word about it appeared in the local news media.” (Emphasis added)

Folks, this is the way Chicago used to be before the repeal of prohibition in 1933. Al Capone and his thugs had the power to intimidate most of its citizens. Now we learn that is happening in a Mexican border town

If our own Federal government, loudly proclaiming its “preemption” privileges while dawdling indolently along in its feckless, arrogant ways, this kind of violence could easily happen here.

Though Don notes the similarity between this struggle and America's battle with the Mob he neglects to mention the most important part, America won!  America defeated the Mob and, to be frank, there was never a question as to whether the Mob would take over America entirely as seems to be happening in the dripping postule hanging off the ass end of America.

Anybody care to hazard a guess as to what the difference actually is? Anybody? Beuhler?

It's this simple, the reason Mexico can't stop the drug cartels is because the Mexican people are too corrupt and are on the side of the drug cartels.

Whereas White Americans are on the side of law & order. When it comes time to deal with this problem White Americans will step up to the plate as they have every time previously.

Let me repeat: Americans are not Mexicans! It is just foolish to even suggest such a thing.

What fascinates me about this topic, as one who's been in the anti-illegal immigration trenches for several years, is the imputation that all people are basically the same. Really? They are? How amazing. So the reason Mexico is a third world country is because, why? And, the reason America is a first world country is because, why?

Hint: the management of this blog will not accept any answers including the words and phrases: colonialism, racism, nationalism or vegetarianism.
